Happy New Year
I know it's a bit late but Happy New Year, ya lazy bums. How time flies! A year back we were all bracing ourselves for freedom from Mumbai University and Don Bosco. And now all we talk about are the good ol college days like a bunch of 60+ oldies.
So what new challenges does the New Year bring? For those in the industry, decisions will have to be made with regards to a career in IT or management. For others student life once again on foreign shores in a superior educational system.
As for our great country, the media and government paints a very Orwellian picture. While the sensex hits the 21k mark, the stark reality is that 80% are below the poverty line. Farmers committing suicide is now the norm. The government comes up with plans to convert Mumbai to Shanghai. Ha! Good luck with that. My grandchildren will be dead and buried by the time we even have decent roads to compare with the Shanghai of 2008, so God only knows how far ahead Shanghai will be then. The media gives stupid statistics about our metros being safe, yet our women suffer every day. The New Year incident at the Marriott just garnered attention because it was NRIs molested by a group of 70. What confuses me is ratio of the number of molesters to the number of available orifices!! Girls if you're out partying on New Year in Mumbai, carry some super automobile lubricant. It'll just be less painful. School kids having access to alcohol shows the pitiful state of the law here. Worse still is that they're allowed to drive and kill random pavement dwellers who work hard to earn their bread. Off late kids have had access to guns and school shootings have become common here. Where the hell were these weapon traffickers when I was in DBIT??
People always criticize me for not standing during the National Anthem at theatres. It's not that I'm not patriotic, but shouldn't I have something to be proud of before standing? The stupid politicians that enforce the rule are the least bit bothered about the welfare of the country. The truth always hurts eh?
Don't know what was the real point was in writing this, but Happy New Year indeed.
